In one of the most hotly-contested races this election cycle, we feel that Mike Mondul is the best candidate for the job of Danville City Sheriff. Charles Poindexter is running for his first re-election and we believe he’s a worthy candidate. How’s that for an oxymoron of a headline? Anyway, voters have to make an unappetizing choice from this buffet. Remember when Lynchburg City Manager Kim Payne talked tough against an outspoken police detective? Well, the detective’s lawyers have responded to the city’s motion to dismiss the civil suit. Because “Gas Station Fire” just isn’t as funny of a headline! But now it’s time to get serious on a serious matter Wow. What can you really say about this? (Originally Published on: Oct 22, 2009 @ 22:24) Well, Fine! Or really it’s about the lack of fines… Doesn’t that make you feel safe & secure? Nah… didn’t think so. Don Merricks is in his first re-election cycle but gets the free pass with no opposition. He’s deserving of our endorsement. (Now updated at this permalink.) Well, Fine! Or really it’s about the lack of fines… Let’s take a look at what happened at tonight’s Danville City Council meeting… Although James Edmunds is now running unopposed, SouthsideCentral feels that he’s deserving of our support for this election. Now there’s one way to make them sit down and shut up… and maybe make them pee on themselves, but who cares about that? đ It’s been a while since we checked in with Stan Noblin’s “boys in brown”… Like the Treasurer, Danville’s Commissioner of Revenue is running for re-election unopposed. That being said, we believe James Gillie is doing a great job and is deserving of SouthsideCentral’s endorsement for this election. The Danville Treasurer’s election is an unopposed race, but SouthsideCentral believes that a worthy candidate deserves the endorsement. Make your way to Reidsville, NC for the Nightmare on Scales Street! We all know that Hurt, VA is a small town. We didn’t know it was this small. Last Update: 14th District House Race â Update #1 It’s a strange political season when a city’s Sheriff’s and Commonwealth Attorney’s election get more attention than the House of Delegates’ one does. This makes seven. I feel a special SouthsideCentral version of the classic PTI “Food Chain” segment is coming soon. Last update: Danville City Commonwealthâs Attorney Race â Update #3 With less than 20 days to go, let’s see what’s going on and talk a little strategy. Back in the days of HalifaxCentral (yeah, that blog is still there!), we reported on a former South Boston police officer that was arrested and charged with four felonies of âindecent libertiesâ and two misdemeanors of âcontributing to the delinquency of a minorâ back in March. Let’s see what’s happening in that case… Here’s a “Letter to the Editor” that’s not quite phrased properly… If you didn’t attend Thursday’s Southside Show-Biz Expo sponsored by the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, you missed one of Danville’s showcase events. Let’s do a recap and some thoughts about the trade show. Local favorite band “Matt Boswell & the Hillbilly Blues Band” won’t be performing in any more Reidsville city events. |
