“The Little Mermaid Jr.” – Part #1

It’s time for the North Star Theatre Project to put on another terrific show at Danville’s Historic North Theatre! This time, it’s Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Jr.” and it’s the biggest cast ever with over 45 cast members. Shows are this coming Friday & Saturday (4/29 & 4/30) at 7:30 PM and a Sunday (5/1) matinee at 2PM. They’ll run the same schedule for the weekend after that. Tickets are only $15 (children & students $10) and active duty service members are free with military ID. You can get your tickets in advance by clicking on this link that will take you to the North Theatre’s webpage.

We’re going to do a series of PhotoCentral articles in the next few days showing you some photos of the cast, the set, the crew and everything that’s happening to get the show ready. In our first article, we’ll take a look at the set and decorations. Let’s get started!

We’re about ready for rehearsal to start, so let’s get busy.

You can’t have “The Little Mermaid” without a ship, so here’s the huge set piece.

Let’s make a quick trip to the lobby where seahorse decorations are being painted.

Ariel’s Grotto is being worked on right now.

Coral is being grown right before your eyes!

Here’s a closer look at the excellent detail that the crew is putting into Ariel’s Grotto.

I told you the main set piece was large, and here’s proof. It weighs over 1200 pounds!

Director Mimi Grubb is getting the columns in perfect position.

Mimi’s also making sure all of the lighting and sound is right.

Here’s the show poster! We’ll see you at “The Little Mermaid Jr.” this weekend!

We’ve got lots more coming in this PhotoCentral series… only here on SouthsideCentral!
