Earlier this afternoon, I got a tip that said some Halifax County school students would not get their dual-enrollment associate’s degrees. I’ve done the research on this story and it is FALSE.
A handful of 2014 high school graduates have not received their associate’s degrees that they earned during their studies. As stated above, the rumors started flying today that those degrees would not be granted due to teacher certification issues. That’s FALSE.
I immediately started the investigation into this and after multiple phone calls, here’s what I’ve found out.
The reason that these degrees haven’t been issued for those students yet is because the administrative forms still need to be signed by the proper teachers. Since all the needed teachers would be back at the high school for the start of the school, that problem is being taken care of now.
Reliable sources inside the Halifax County School System have told me that they see no other problems and that all 2014 graduates who have earned their associate’s degrees will get them.

Way to cover your butts HCHS!
