A governmental body refuses to ban something that’s already banned. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
Supervisors reject uranium ban at mega park – again
This crapola started with the quite-ridiculous and quite-dead attempt to make a 25 mile uranium ban by the Usual Suspects.
Coy Harville said it best this time…
“It’s not an issue,” he said. “There’s a moratorium on mining uranium in Virginia.”
Coy, they’ve heard that before. They’re just not listening.

Since this is my money the tobacco commission may ask for back the “Strike 5” as you title this should not be the last time this is brought up.
The way I see this is; IF sometime in the future RIFA decides to mine or mill uranium whether with the current board or a future appointed board the tobacco commission wants their money refunded. Which means my taxes and your taxes if you even live in the county are going up to pay for something that someone may in the future have a whim to do.
As of right now (and we all know things do change daily in everything) Rifa says they have no intentions of mining, well that is just great, fine and dandy but personally I would like to see something in writing to assure me. The times of a handshake deal and people keeping their word have been over for some years now.
The only reason not to do this is to give themselves a “weasel way out”. Put it in writing RIFA, County Board of Supervisors and City of Danville.
As for you Southside Central, I can not see why you are against this resolution and bad mouth it in your columns, yes I have read them, or are you just picking on the people that have asked for this for personal reasons. Whether you are for mining or against it this does not matter, this is simply an assurance of our tax dollars being protected.
Question Southside Central, Are you one of those investors that are ashamed to “come out of the closet” and be known to general public?
Reply: First thing, “Strike 5” refers to Marshall Ecker’s asinine attempt to push the stupid Megapark uranium mining ban proposal. I’m very much in favor of the TIC’s recapture resolution, as the TIC awarded the money for industrial development.
Next, I notice how you’re using the tactic of trying to impeach my opinion by suggesting I’m an investor. Karen Maute tried that bullshit last week. I’ll answer your question directly. No.
It’s a shame you and your associates have to resort to scare tactics to get weak-minded people to your side. Now, your group has started using poisoning-the-well fallacies to attempt to discredit people who disagree with you. I’ve got old news for you. It ain’t gonna work on me, and I will fight every chickenshit attack that you & your group try.
My Money,
Great comments.
I have seen this dude at the Danville City Meetings; he needs to show up at Pittsylvania County Meetings and Rifa Meetings!
Maybe we need to ask Danny Marshall to come to Rifa meetings and ask him to write a resolution for taxpayer’s monies to be given back if Rifa allows uranium mining and milling.
There will be more resolutions, that is what America is about, good thing SC was not around during 1776, we would still be part of England.
Reply: Ace, my man, if you’ve seen me at Danville City Council meetings, why didn’t you come up and introduce yourself? It would have been my pleasure to meet you.
I don’t have a problem giving anybody my real name or knowing who I am. Don’t be scared, I won’t bite.
Heh, nice Strawman on the “1776” thing. That’s a logical fallacy that you haven’t used in a long time.
Gonna be at next Monday’s RIFA meeting? I’ll be there if you will.
Sorry, I hate to miss RIFA meeting but I have a doctor’s appointment on Monday but my friends will be there.
Please attend the RIFA meeting!
Of course you cannot speak or record the meeting and will be kick out for closed sessions!
Not like the City Council or Pitt. BOS meetings, where we are allowed to speak.
