With any luck and a small bit of justice, this lawsuit will get tossed out quickly.
Shooting At Sheetz Leads To $5M Suit
For some reference on this, you can read the report prepared by Halifax County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney Kim White here at her website. (Look for the entries marked 08/15/2008)
Let’s recap:
- Dumbass who already has a lengthy criminal record has already violated probation before and knows the inside of a jail cell quite well.
- Dumbass has a shoplifting warrant on him.
- Dumbass is about to get busted for B&E and stealing in Caswell County.
- Dumbass is driving on a suspended driver’s license and has been busted twice before for the same thing.
- Dumbass decides to roll a marijuana blunt while parked in the front of Sheetz.
- Dumbass has a real bad sense of timing and rolls said blunt while 4 excellent police officers are nearby.
- Dumbass tries to drive away from the cops and puts people in danger of their lives with his vehicle.
- Cop does the correct thing as he’s trained to do and prevents any more harm to the public.
- One dead Dumbass due to Dumbass’s own Dumbass actions.
- The. End.
Lesson Learned: Running from the cops is stupid.
I hope this blatant money-grabbing attempt at a lawsuit is dismissed quickly and decisively.
I find it interesting that our Sheriff still has not publicly defended his deputy. Not at first, not after the CA findings, not in between, and certainly not when a frivolous lawsuit is announced.
I wonder if he ever will?
Does he think the deputy was wrong? Is he skeered to “stick his neck out”, even in support of one of his man who has been cleared by the CA? Is he being muzzled by the state police or someone else?
Wonder what the lack of public support for deputy who so obviously did the right thing does for morale in the department?
It is all about the almighty dollar. Really sucks and dumbass is the right word.
Noblin is Halifax County’s most absent Sheriff, EVER.
I saw the suit coming. What does the family have to lose by trying to capitalize on this death? Nothing. But they have millions to gain. Knowing our completely backward court system, they’ll probably win.
