Danville Police Department’s statement on the GWHS gun incident.

There’s a new development in this case. One rather large development, in fact.

Here’s the statement…

The Danville Police Department has completed a firearms swept of George Washington High School as a follow-up to the incident on Friday, 10-09-09, when a student reported seeing a firearm on campus. The entire school was searched using special weapon detection K-9’s; however, no additional firearms were discovered. The school has been cleared to reopen under normal operation and will do so starting Monday morning.

Early Friday morning the Danville Police Department received a report that a student had seen a firearm on the campus of George Washington High School. The campus was placed on lockdown while police investigated the report. Police investigation identified that several students were involved and all were interviewed. A BB pistol was later recovered from a student’s book bag resulting in petitions being issued for two students. During the initial investigation, information was received concerning a second possible firearm on campus, the subsequent investigation lead to the recovery of a .22 cal. firearm off campus. Charges are pending on a third student in relation to the second firearm. The three individual facing charges were all students and juveniles.

The incident is under investigation by the Danville Police Department.

So that happened. I’m wondering where the real gun was found. I’m sure we’ll get the answer to that soon.
