Time Machine: The Family Murder Connection

The recent stabbing on Danville’s James St. that resulted in a murder charge has a sad family connection to a Danville murder that happened over five years ago. Let’s hop in the SouthsideCentral Time Machine and fill in the blanks.

Let’s start with the murder that happened on Thursday, November 5th in Danville. Here’s the official statement from the Danville Police Department…

At approximately 11:31 am two women arrived by personal vehicle at Danville Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department suffering from apparent stab wounds. One of the victims, a 24-year-old Danville resident, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The second victim, an 18-year-old Danville resident, was listed in critical condition and subsequently transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for further treatment. She succumbed to her injuries while she was in surgery and was pronounced deceased at 4:31 pm. She is identified as Octrival Latisha Townes, age 18, of Danville.

The investigation revealed that an altercation took place in the 200 block of West James St. before escalating to the knife attack.

As a result of this incident, Aisha Lili O’Kalani Saunders, age 18, of Danville was charged with one count of malicious wounding and one count of aggravated malicious wounding. She was served with the warrants prior to the victim passing away. She is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.

Now let’s hop in the SouthsideCentral Time Machine and head back to May 12, 2010. Here’s the official statement from the Danville Police Department from that night…

On May 12, 2010 at approximately 7:12pm, police responded to 316 Rhodenizer Street in reference to someone that had been shot. Algie D. Saunders II, age 52, of the Rhodenizer Street address, was transported by the Danville Life Saving Crew from the residence to the Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the head. Mr. Saunders was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. At this time, 24 year old Algie D. Saunders III, 316 Rhodenizer Street, has been charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling (S.C. 18.2-279) and is being held in the Danville City Jail.

Recognize the last names? Yep. Aisha Saunders is Algie D. Saunders III’s half-sister. Aisha’s half-brother shot her father in the head that night and is doing a 32-year prison sentence for the murder.

Two murders/murderers have a family connection and it’s a sad situation all around. This is one trip in the SouthsideCentral Time Machine that I truly didn’t want to make.

You shouldn’t write stories and not do your reasearch. If you do some more searching you will find a lot more on this family and all the tragedy they have suffered.

What IS Your Point Of Doing This There Not Murderers Both Of Them Unfortunate Events Were Accidents So Don’t Try To Make Them Look Like Monsters

  • Nae

So their obviously crazy. The brother deserves every bit of that time & I hope justice will be served for the family that lost that young lady. In my eyes they are monsters & no they should not be walking these streets, no telling how many more lives she will take if she’s let go. & what makes this story so sad is that child had just turned 18 with a 9 month old baby girl who has to grow up without her mother. Think about the story that will have to be told to that child.. & if your family was in this situation of the victim how would you feel

People better be careful how they put there mouth on people. At the end of the day they are kids and both family lost a love one. Its time for a change….

Rebecca Terry put this on facebook

  • I’M PRETTY SURE IF U TRAVEL FAR BACK ENOUGH IN A TIME MACHINE AND COVERED *EVERYONE’S* FAMILIES, WE’D ALL HAVE MORE THAN ONE LESS THAN REPUTABLE CHARACTERS IN OUR BLOODLINES…NO MATTER COLOR, LAST NAME, SOCIAL BACKGROUND, ETC. WE GET IT…SHE WAS WRONG, HE WAS WRONG…WE KNOW THIS. BUT THE THING TO DO IS NOT GIVE THE MOST ATTENTION TO THE WRONGDOER….BUT RESPECT THE FALLEN VICTIM & HER FAMILY.

Really if y’all only knew Algie didn’t kill is daddy an I’m pretty sure his sister didn’t mean to kill anybody

    • Daniel

SAYS WHO????? He did kill his father thats why he is locked up. So many of you guys take up for people that do wrong. We may all have crazies in our family but thats no reason for this girl to kill. I would like to hear you guys explain to Octavial daughter when she grow up cause yall sound foolish. She killed that girl they need to put her under the jail. If it was vice versa you guys would want the same thing so please stop sugar coating things

  • 1love

Im just so sorry this happened to either family and May God be the healer during it all…

  • Mister tell the truth

If that girl and her friends had never went over there to attack that girl then she would still be alive today! She went over there and they jumped her over a boy! The Saunders girl went in the house and got a knife and came back outside and stabbed the girl! Again if the girl had never went over there then she would still be alive!

  • Susie

So, you mean to tell me “The Saunders girl” was able to get away & go in her house!!!! Then came back out & stabbed them! That’s murder! Not self defense. End of story.
