I’ve been thinking… which usually leads to trouble. Here, it leads to a Big Board!
- Happy Trails, Register & Bee paywall (at least for now)! I had a good feeling that the paywall policy would fail yet again, and it seems like it has.
- Speaking of that, paying to have an obituary in the newspaper is just horrible. Almost all funeral homes are now putting their obituaries on their websites as part of the funeral costs.
- How is C.G. Hairston on Danville’s Industrial Development Authority when he owes over $3,000 in back property taxes?
- I love excellent restaurants. I also love my sponsors. That means I especially love Texas Steakhouse. Mention SouthsideCentral when you eat there and get a voucher good for a free appetizer!
- One of the last “out in the open” vending machines is on the side of the Coca-Cola warehouse on Trade Street. I see somebody using it at least 30% of the time I go by there.
- The Danville Public Library has over 50 e-magazines that you can subscribe to. All it takes is a library card and you can download magazines like Discover, National Geographic, Cosmopolitan, Family Circle and Rolling Stone. Once you download them, they’re yours to keep forever. That can save you lots of money.
- It’s a shame that very few people attend Danville City Council & School Board meetings just to observe them.

I am in full agreement about newspapers charging to publish obits. Disgraceful. The obits are a big reason a lot of folks subscribe.

Danville public library needs a new home. crampt and junky. doesn’t appear handicapped accessible. with all the empty buildings ….there is one waiting on them. they need more room. I am sure police or sherrif could use that building. this will never happen tho !!!
They could then raze it and put police there. They are apparently quite cramped.
The R&B pay wall is still working. I just got a reminder that I only have 2 more free views.
So said somebody else. But it’s still dead to me and I’m not using any code blocking tricks, nor am I using Private Browsing. Go figure.
