“It is a personnel matter”

Those words usually aren’t too promising when it comes to a school superintendent…

Dr. Franklin suspended with pay

Wow. It’s been a rough couple of years for school superintendents in the SouthsideCentral region. Halifax County had Paul Stapleton retire after the heat was building under him and new superintendent Merle Herndon started her own brand of heat by immediately pulling the rug out from under the early-retirees and their pay program. Patrick County superintendent Roger Morris is headed out the door after having had his contract reduced after shenanigans, and Franklin County’s Charles Lackey was sent packing in August 2012.

Well, that proves that school superintendent isn’t a job that most people retire at. At least not in the real meaning of “retire”. We’ll have to see what Caswell County’s kerfluffle is all about… but it doesn’t look promising for Renee Franklin as of now.
