Let’s see our Thumbs! like and dislike this time out…
- Thumbs UP! to Joe Zappacosta. He’s leaving the director job at the Halifax County library system and moving to the director job at Danville’s library. He’s leaving a library system that was overseen by a board of directors that was dysfunctional at times. Now, the #1 & #2 jobs in the Halifax County library system are open. Good luck to the next person who steps in that revolving door.
- Thumbs UP! to Danville Public Schools superintendent Ed Newsome. He’s starting his run in the job by conducting open house meetings with teachers & parents, asking them for problems and solutions. If this is how Newsome’s job path will continue in Danville, he’s starting off in the right way.
- A rare but well deserved Thumbs UP! to the Register & Bee for a mocking photo in the story that Downtown Danville has 5000 parking places available (so sayeth a study). Photographer Steven Mantilla went out and got a photo of a line of potential parking places that are unusable because of pallets of bricks sitting along the curbline. Well played. Very well played.
