We did it last time. Now it’s Pat Barksdale’s turn. Did anybody think that they would actually go out on strike with the economy the way it is? The folks at Farm Bureau Insurance in Centerville make another nice donation to a great cause. Our friends at the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce have reminded us of a big event coming this weekend to Southside VA. The Secretary of Energy & Secretary of Agriculture will be coming to a farm on Blairs on Saturday, July 18th. Who are you chatting with? Are you sure? Feeling paranoid yet? Got $150 we can “borrow”? Funny money ain’t funny when you’re stuck with it. We’ve had plenty of people put their own answers into the OddsMakers survey so it’s time to compile the results and give you the rundown. (Originally published on Jul 13, 2009 @ 12:51) BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Moorefield has been found on the old Dodson farm on Bradley Creek Rd. There is no word on his condition at this time. EMS is on the way to the scene. Moorefield is currently on one of the rescue team’s ATV. Thanks go to a terrific SouthsideCentral source for this information! UPDATED: Insert your own joke for that headline, but a truck/trailer combo of that size is going to be heading through Danville at least three times over the next week. There’s a new blog in the area that’s watching the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors and it’s worth checking out. It’s either going to be a great event or something you don’t want to see. Mouthy’s back in the starring role… just because he can! The 2nd concert in Destination Downtown South Boston’s “TGIF in the Square” was held Friday night in South Boston. Our good friend, Andy Rice took some awesome photos from the concert and agreed to let us feature them here! Danville police are investigating a murder that happened in the early morning hours of Saturday. This one slipped up on me. Oops… The kid’s going to be OK, but he’s in the hospital getting treatment now. The Danville police officer that shot and killed the dachshund a month ago has lost his job. I want to make it very clear that I am not blaming the owners of Bronx Boy Bagels one bit for the decision they made. They have a business to run and I continue to hope that they succeed. This one goes out to people in Southside that just don’t support good local restaurants. They’re back in a tie for first place after tonight’s win. So, what’s going to happen at South Boston’s Town Council meeting? So that happened. And here I was thinking we’d have a fun trial… It was found burned in Virgilina. The embattled Greensboro College “retires”. Riiiiiiiight. |
