Since it&#8217;s less than 90 days from the next general election, here&#8217;s the timeframe of replacement and election courtesy of South Boston Town Clerk Jane Jones.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sept. 15th &#8211; Town petitions court to issue a writ of election to fill the position. (15 days after the resignation is official)<\/li>\n<li>Sept. 15th &#8211; Oct. 15th &#8211; Council seeks candidates, interviews, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Oct. 15th &#8211; Council\u00a0 makes appointment to fill vacancy until the 2nd next general election, November 2015 (45 days after the resignation is official)<\/li>\n<li>November 2015 &#8211; General Election &#8211; special election to fill seat &#8211; Term will run Nov. 2015 thru through June 30, 2016<\/li>\n<li>May 2016 &#8211; Council Election \u2013 new 4-year term for the seat.
