{"id":8466,"date":"2014-03-29T09:00:23","date_gmt":"2014-03-29T13:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.southsidecentral.com\/wordpress\/?p=8466"},"modified":"2014-03-28T23:38:36","modified_gmt":"2014-03-29T03:38:36","slug":"whiskey-sanity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southsidecentral.com\/wordpress\/2014\/03\/29\/whiskey-sanity\/","title":{"rendered":"Whiskey Sanity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve got to give Henry County officials credit for doing the right thing.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You may remember a few days ago when I told you about <a title=\"Whiskey Hypocrisy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.southsidecentral.com\/wordpress\/2014\/03\/27\/whiskey-hypocrisy\/\">a bad decision made by the Henry County Board of Zoning Appeals<\/a>. Well, it looks like the county planning director realizes that any new small business is a good idea for their county that&#8217;s in poor economic shape.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/martinsvillebulletin.com\/article.cfm?ID=41376\" target=\"_blank\">Planner reviews potential sites for distillery<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Think about the tax revenue that would come in from a $175K building investment and from up to 5000 gallons of whiskey. Add that to the benefits of a few new jobs and the local purchases of grain and you&#8217;ve got a business plan that has a great chance of succeeding. I don&#8217;t believe that I really need to mention the demand for such a product.<\/p>\n<p>Pittsylvania County let this go without governmental staff trying to help this company start up.
