I’ll start this off by saying that any municipal elected board that allocates taxpayers’ money to a private organization for lobbying purposes should be ashamed of themselves & voted out of office at the next election. That’s not going to happen because the voters are usually stupid, so I’ll get on to my main point that infuriates the hell out of me.<\/p>\n
FastForward down in the article to where the residents of Gatha’s Trail in the town have problems with their dirt road. There are houses, churches, and a cemetery on that road and it’s not in very good condition. I’ll mention that town residents on Buena Vista Drive or Mountain Road don’t have those types of problems because their roads are nicely paved and well-kept.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the meeting, councilmen Dennis Witt and Jack Dunavant just happened to find $5,000 in Mystery Money to give out to the Virginia Coalition. But now, councilman Bill Confroy says that there’s no money to help the people who occasionally watch the road in front of their houses become a river. Thanks, Bill. Did you think of asking Dennis Witt & Jack Dunavant if they could shake some more Mystery Money out of the taxpayers’ couch cushions? Nah, I didn’t think so…<\/p>\n
Moral of the story: It’s all about the haves and the have-nots. If you are against uranium mining, you’ll have. If you live on a road that occasionally floods out, you’ll have not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
