It&#8217;s a beautiful building with some pretty good restaurants there&#8230; but things are about to change. Here&#8217;s the latest in the ongoing saga.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roanoke.com\/news\/breaking\/wb\/250827\" target=\"_blank\">City to offer enticement for vendors to return to City Market Building<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Any plan to close the Market building for nine months is stupid enough on its own because brand new buildings can be built in much less time. I can&#8217;t blame any of the restaurants in the building for feeling that the city has let them down with this plan, and this $20,000 &#8220;incentive&#8221; to come back is a drop in the bucket to any business. <\/p>\n<p>Roanoke has totally botched this plan, and it&#8217;s not the first time. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roanoke.com\/news\/roanoke\/wb\/178776\" target=\"_blank\">Back in 2008, the Market building was shut down by the Health Department for rodent infestation for 2 weeks<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t expect to see &#8220;Burger in the Square&#8221; back for the re-opening of the Market building, nor do I expect any of the restaurants to return.
