On Monday, November 9, 2009, at approximately 8:38 a.m., the Martinsville and Henry County 911 Communications Center received a bomb threat. The caller, a female, spoke briefly to the 911 Dispatcher and quickly ended the conversation. The female caller stated she had put a bomb in a building located at Stanley Furniture Company, located at 1641 Fairystone Park Highway, Bassett, VA. The female caller appeared to be upset over company layoffs.<\/p>\n

\tA search of the facility found no such device. The investigation is continuing. The Virginia State Police and the ATF assisted in the investigation. Anyone who makes a bomb threat is in violation of the Code of Virginia, Section 18.2-83, a class 5 felony. Anyone who may know the identity of the female caller reporting the bomb threat is urged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
