Fellow Council Members:
\nI am nominating Councilman Alonzo Jones for the position of Vice Mayor.<\/p>\n
After serving on the Danville School Board, Alonzo believed he could help move our city forward in a different capacity. He was inspired to become a Councilman by City Council\u2019s actions in taking on issues that have a broad impact and address the very real needs of our community. During his commitment of service and efforts to work cohesively with council, we have seen just how much Danville has progressed in revitalizing our city, being a voice for safety for all citizens, supporting education, and listening to citizens, young and old alike, ensuring they take an active role in the betterment of our city.<\/p>\n
As a lifetime Danville resident, Alonzo has been a champion for our citizens and youth in various capacities. As a council member, he has exhibited this dedication through service on various boards: Commissioner and Vice Chairman of Danville Redevelopment Housing Authority, representing the city at numerous speaking\u00a0 engagements. He led the effort for the creation of our Youth Council, and has worked collaboratively, and respectfully, with council members on making decisions or voting on matters that have been difficult at times. In all Councilman Jones does, he strives to exemplify honesty, integrity, fairness, and thoughtfulness. Therefore, I proudly nominate Councilman Alonzo Jones for Vice Mayor and ask you to join me in supporting him. Thank you.<\/p>\n
