Citizens of Danville,<\/p>\n
I have been a proud resident of Danville for 63 of my 65 years. This community has given me much more than I deserved, and I am so proud to be called a Danvillian.<\/p>\n
In 2002, City Council gave me the opportunity to serve the city that I hold so dearly, when they appointed me to fulfill Charles Scott’s term when he died unexpectedly just one month after his new four-year term began. However, due to a wonderful employment opportunity in Fayetteville, NC, in September 2004, I had to resign from Council.<\/p>\n
In 2006, I was fortunate to return to Danville; and in 2008, made a successful run for City Council after establishing my residency. I ran again in 2012 and was re-elected for four more years. I can\u2019t tell you how much I have enjoyed serving on your City Council for 10 years, and I consider representing the citizens of Danville as the highest honor I have ever received.<\/p>\n
The time has now come for me to decide if I will put my name forward for another four-year term, and I have not taken this decision lightly. I have considered many things, but after months of reflection, I have decided not to run for re-election to Danville City Council.<\/p>\n
Truth be told, I would not have accomplished much in my life without my wife, Debbie, by my side. She has spent countless hours alone while I was out trying to make a difference in the community that I love. It is time for me to give her the attention she truly deserves.<\/p>\n
I want to sincerely thank the citizens of Danville for the opportunities given to me and for letting me represent you for a decade on Danville City Council. Personally, it has been a very rewarding 10 years.<\/p>\n
