It’s a snowy day in the Southside, so we’re going to catch up on some PhotoCentral articles.<\/p>\n

On Monday, January 18th, Averett’s Center for Community Engagement and Career Competitiveness<\/a> organized the “MLK Day of Service” with volunteers helping on projects that benefit the community. One of the projects was rebuilding the Little Free Libraries that are all over the city. Weather had taken a toll on them and the CCECC decided it would be a good project to refurbish them. Let’s take a look at the work in progress.<\/p>\n

Side Note: I noticed the Little Free Library was gone from the Institute so I put it out on social media. The terrific Alexis Ehrhardt was quick to let me know that this was a MLK Day of Service project. I feel obligated to make sure everybody known that the Little Free Libraries are in safe hands.<\/p>\n

We’re at the Grant Center on Averett’s North Campus.<\/p>\n

This Little Free Library is getting some fresh coats of wood stain.<\/p><\/div>\n

A Danville Regional Foundation “Make It Happen” grant helped start the Little Free Library project.<\/p><\/div>\n

This is the Little Free Library at the Danville Science Center.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

A few more coats of paint and this Little Free Library will be ready to go back into service.<\/p><\/div>\n

Each Little Free Library around the world has a number on it and can be located at the Little Free Library website<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n

This Little Free Library has a Roald Dahl quote on it.<\/p><\/div>\n

Repainting the Little Free Libraries can get be messy, but that’s part of the fun!<\/p><\/div>\n

The Danville Public Library and Averett’s CCECC will have the Little Free Libraries back in place soon and freshly stocked with books. Visit one and take a book, return a book or leave a book that you’d like to donate to the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
