Telly Tucker, Director of Economic Development, is asking the IDA for $10K for a start on the upcoming precision machining program at GW. Shirley Primiano asks why a new program is needed and why can’t the schools partner with Pittsylvania County. Apparently, she doesn’t read SouthsideCentral. The idea passes 7-0. As Primiano votes, she says she still thinks that there should be some way that the city and county programs could merge together. She just doesn’t get it and hasn’t been keeping up with how the county program is at capacity & has a waiting list. Gah! By the way, Kathy Osborne & Jackie Rochford from Danville Public Schools were at the meeting, but didn’t need to talk after all.<\/p>\n

Kathy Cropp is ready to open her new restaurant this weekend.<\/p><\/div>\n
Kathy Cropp from the upcoming Me’s Burgers & Brews is asking for dumpster space in the parking lot beside the business. She says that the restaurant will start with 4 PM to 11 PM or 12 M Tuesday – Saturday hours with a possible expansion to lunch service down the road. They’re going to do a lot more frying under the new format so used grease storage will be needed.<\/p>\n
Next, the IDA officially approves the purchase of the land that went up for auction right as you make the hard right turn on Airport Drive, going towards the Cyberpark. They were the high bidder at $110,000.<\/p>\n

Rick Barker remains in the room, so I know that they’re talking about his plans for the 500 block of Craghead St.<\/p>\n The closed session lasted about 35 minutes, and no action was taken as regards to Rick Barker and his properties. There was some action taken extending some kind of agreement, but I’ll have to find out more about that as they talked quickly and then adjourned.
