If you’ve been around downtown Danville, then you probably know that High St. has been blocked off for the last 927 years (not really, but it seems that way) because of a building that has collapsed and is still collapsing.<\/p>\n

Now we know what the plans are for that 549 High St.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Next Thursday, the River District Design Committee will meet and issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for a contractor to tear down the top two floors of the collapsed building. Here’s the drawing on the planned demolition.<\/p>\n

All righty. It’s about time and hopefully the street can be reopened after that. But what’s supposed to happen after that?<\/p>\n

Very interesting.<\/p>\n

No, I’m not going to mock that the city has to go through its own River District Design Commission to get their own permit to tear down an obvious safety hazard that occasionally drops bricks on the street from 35 feet above. That would be way too easy to poke fun at.<\/p>\n
