Let’s go back to September 25, 2014…<\/p>\n

Why the YMCA?<\/a><\/h4>\n

This letter was published on Thursday, September 25th so it had to been written earlier than that. Thursday, September 25th is also\u00a0 conveniently when the South Boston YMCA had a board meeting with McCubbin & Friends in the audience<\/a>. As the article said…<\/p>\n

Y board members and Executive Director Marcus Hargrave reacted to the group\u2019s presence with a mix of guarded optimism and surprise at the offers for intervention.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Guarded optimism and surprise my ass. He knew they were gunning for him and wouldn’t be satisfied until his head was hung on the wall. If he didn’t know that, this article excerpt should be a honkin’ big flashing neon sign.<\/p>\n

Tom Stutts argued that \u201cbefore you can raise money and get grants, you\u2019ve got to have the community behind you \u2014 and you don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A conveniently timed letter to the editor where McCubbin “did not know what needs to change at our local YMCA” but then she quickly figured that out? Brilliant! My goodness! That plan came together so quickly, you’d think that McCubbin & Friends had talked about it and plotted Hargrave’s ouster in advance!<\/p>\n

So That Happened. Marcus Hargrave was sent packing seven weeks later by the McCubbin & Friends board of directors.<\/a><\/p>\n

Clearly, it was “a cost-cutting measure”. Clearly. Clearly, I say. Oh that’s total horsecrap, they wanted Hargrave’s ass gone from the moment this plot was hatched. If this had been a cost-cutting measure with nothing to do with their opinion of Hargrave’s performance, I’m sure they could have worked something out. They brought him into the boardroom and…<\/p>\n
