Leonard Harville has sought legal counsel that has agreed to take me to court. Oh, I’m so scared.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, Leonard Harville YELLED THIS THREAT AT ME ON FACEBOOK…<\/p>\n

YOU TALK ABOUT THE GAZETTE-VIRGINIAN GETTING BUSTED FOR PLAGIARISM AND POST MY PHOTO OF MATT CARTER ON YOUR PAGE ! WATCH WHAT YOU SAY ON HERE ! I HAVE SOUGHT LEGAL COUNSEL THAT HAS AGREED TO TAKE YOU TO COURT ! ASK CHARLES ROURKE WHAT IMPROPER COMMENTS CAN DO TO YOUR POCKETBOOK ! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You might say, “Bruce, how do you know he’s talking about you?” Come to think it, you’d be right. Leonard then had to YELL THIS IN THE NEXT COMMENT.<\/p>\n

Leonard Harville<\/strong>: THIS IS FOR BRUCE HEDRICK !<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I appreciate him MAKING THAT CLEAR!<\/p>\n

Of course, he made that “threat” to me set to “Friends Only”, which meant that I couldn’t see it.\u00a0 In other words, he could have shouted it at a telephone pole and been as effective in getting it to me. Luckily, I have lots of friends who make sure I’m informed.<\/p>\n

All right, I’m going to pretend that I’ve been served with this legal action for plagiarism. I have to say I’m going to pretend that, because plagiarism isn’t even recognized in any civil or criminal law. That would mean that whatever legal counsel that he has retained (trust me, he hasn’t) is practicing law at the Legal Hut in Guatemala (or some other country that sells bananas). By the way, Charles Roark<\/em> (note the correct spelling) was sued for defamation by the Martinsville Commonwealth’s Attorney because he recklessly published false information. That’s got absolutely nothing to do with copyright law.<\/p>\n

If Leonard has a real lawyer (again, he doesn’t), that lawyer should tell him that he has a potential legal action for copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.. The procedure for starting that legal action is to issue a claim of copyright with the owner of the website (that would be me). That demand would ask me to take the infringing item down. As the owner of the website, I would have to opportunity to issue a counter-claim and give a response to his demand. In case you’re wondering what my response will be, I’ll tell you now. “Blow it out your ass.”<\/p>\n

Leonard would then have two choices. Either blow it out his ass or to commence ill-fated legal action against me. My defense will be “fair use based on parody”. By using the photo in an article that ridicules the original, I am allowed to use a fairly extensive use of the original material to conjure up the original. I’m quite confident that my use of his photo fits under that legal precedent. Right now, I’m using his original content (HIS THREAT HE YELLED AT ME) to parody him once more… and I’ll keep doing it.<\/p>\n

In other words, good ol’ Leonard’s got nothin’ and no amount of CAPS LOCK will change that one damned bit. Now he does have a rabid group of supporters who always chime in with blind support to him, so let’s take a look at some of those…<\/p>\n

Debbie Wyles Vernon<\/strong>: Bruce Hedrick is just ticked off cause he dont get the attention you do. Kinda hard to do that when your rear is at home and not on the scene…unless of course it’s a political event.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sorry, Debbie. I do a lot of political coverage and I’m sorry that you don’t enjoy that. I’m a firm believe that car wrecks are usually crap and not-newsworthy. I do appreciate her reading SouthsideCentral and I’m flattered at her attention on my butt, though.<\/p>\n

Now that’s a useful comment. I’m considering changing my site description from “The only blog covering the SouthsideVA region\u2026 and more!” to “The only wack website about Southside VA that’s ran by a hater!!!!”<\/p>\n

Joan Scearce Leonard<\/strong>: Why was Bruce fired from Star News?? Or does he think no one knows? He must not be much.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Now this is funny. Joan Leonard is one of my Facebook friends. All she’s got to do is ask me directly.<\/p>\n

If I get any more of these Hatin-Ass Comments that are worth responding to, I’ll add them to this article.<\/p>\n

Let’s recap: Leonard says he’s going to sue me. He’s not. If he tries to do a copyright claim against me, I’ll tell him to blow it out his ass. If he tries to sue me (again, he’s not), I’ll destroy him in court.<\/p>\n

Leonard’s reckless “reporting” is going to hurt\u00a0 more people and some of those people will be his rabid followers. Sadly, the other ones won’t care. I’ll keep up the good fight here on SouthsideCentral.<\/p>\n
