Due to my webhosting company getting hacked, I’ve had to blow up SouthsideCentral & HalifaxCentral. I’m restoring what I can from backup, but it will be slow going. Bear with me while I get things going.

We’ve got three Peregrine Falcon babies!

Hey, we all deserve a break from the political talk at least for a few minutes!

There’s a pair of Peregrine Falcons that are nesting in a Richmond VA high-rise building. About 35 days ago, they were the proud parents of a clutch of eggs. Today, they’re the proud parents of 3 peregrine falcon chicks!

There’s a live camera aimed at their nest and during the daytime hours, you can see the babies and the parents. Here’s the link: http://www.wvec.com/marketplace/microsite-content/falcon-cam-richmond-camera-1.html.

The Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries is also writing a blog about the falcon family. You can see some photos of the hatching and their first meal… a bat! Yummy yum yum!

In this article, you’re going to get a chance to see a pair of bald eagles as their eggs are hatching.

There’s a pair of nesting bald eagles at the Norfolk Botanical Garden and they’ve set up a live video feed so that you can watch them. Today, their first egg hatched and they’ve got two to go.

Fighting back against a notorious speed trap!

This guy’s got his act together.

If you’ve ever traveled US 58 in the South Hill/La Crosse area, you probably know of the speed trap reputation. Well, back on January 15th, Scott Colley got got a speeding ticket for 64 in a 50. He says that he knows that he wasn’t doing 64 MPH as his cruise control was set for 50 MPH. When the officer said he “paced” him going 64 MPH, Colley smelled a rat. He got out his Flip camcorder and started recording what went on.

Colley asked if the officer would re-clock his vehicle on cruise control after he hit “resume” and the officer agreed to. Surprise! Colley’s car was clocked by LIDAR at going the speed limit and not 64 MPH.

Scott Colley decided to fight back. He got a retired NASA scientist to write an essay proving that the police officer couldn’t possibly have gotten up to pacing speed in the distance covered. Colley posted that essay and his video at a new website… http://highway58speedtrap.com/
