It’s two, two features in one! We always thank our readers for the HalifaxTalk ThreadSpotting submissions, so let’s knock a few of them out quickly. You got your ThreadSpotting in my QuickHits! (Originally published on Mar 7, 2010 @ 17:18 – Updated to review Motley’s appearance on Jessica Griffith’s TV show tonight) Governor Ward Armstrong. Aaaaaaiiiiiiieeeeeee! No. No! NO!!! Make it stop! We had made it 22 days without an article on the 5th District race. That streak comes to an end after a stupid-ass comment by Verga, who said Robert Hurt raised taxes “once again”. The city of Danville has lost a great man and public servant. Lyle Lacy helped SouthsideCentral start up our governmental coverage and we’ll always owe him that debt of gratitude. The deadline’s passed and the field is set. Let’s see what’s Danville’s looking at for the May 5th elections. The sheriff’s wife has had her purse stolen out of her car while it was parked at South Boston’s First Baptist Church. The South Boston Police Department & the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department are out in full force! We’ve got Breaking News & a ThreadSpotting all combined in one! Oh, this is going to be [...] There are so many ways to look at this story, but we’re going to stick with the hilarious & mocking ones. Want a real-world view of what racism actually is? Vivain Paige talks about it, and she talks about it from experience. It really pains me to write this article and I’m really hoping for a happy ending to this. That’s right, folks. Taxpayers have just saved just shy of $52 Million Dollars*. (That sounds better if you do it in a Dr. Evil voice, by the way) Oh, you noticed that asterisk behind “52 Million Dollars”, did you? Very observant. Let’s see why it’s there… Danville City Council is the latest governing board to reject an attempt at banning something that’s not even legal already. Strike FOUR! Now just go away, please. Last Update: Danville City Council Race – Update #1 There’s a new pizza restaurant in Danville. Primo Pizza is located at 1131 South Boston Rd. (former location of the Quizno’s Subs franchise that lasted less than 6 months). I’ve had two meals there so far but I’m not recommending the restaurant due to one horrible customer service moment. So many submissions for ThreadSpotting, so little time. Actually, we’ve got the time… it’s just that we need to knock a bunch of mockable HalifaxTalk threads at one time to get them out of the way for the few people who like this feature. Let’s play ThreadSpotting QuickHits! It’s time to use our Thumbs! Everybody’s getting in the Food Chain game! Yep, it’s definitely possible when you carefully look at the food you & your family eat. One of SouthsideCentral’s friends, Kelly Ballance, has just started a new blog about eating healthy for you and your family. The anti-uranium mining foes people picked up yet another strike in their attempts at another preemptive ban. And it’s not even recent news! Want a good (but underhanded) tactic to make sure your upcoming Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office budget isn’t cut severely? Make your way out to Cain Creek Shopping Center and have some great food! Um… not me. Some of the Register & Bee commenters have already started to BBQ this letter writer before I get the chance. That ain’t gonna stop SouthsideCentral. With any luck and a small bit of justice, this lawsuit will get tossed out quickly. One of Virginia’s best political bloggers has floated up an interesting political theory that partially makes some sense. We’ve got Thumbs! and we’re not afraid to use them! How could we pass up a trainwreck of a thread that features Jesus giving somebody the finger and Hitler? And that’s just the first page! It’s a sad day for the Piedmont Triad and Southside VA as one of the best weathermen and all-around guy passes away at the age of 84. How about some quickies? Yay! Five of the six candidates for the 5th District Republican nomination met in Charlottesville last night. So what happened, who won and who lost? |
