Some thoughts about today’s Danville Job Fair…

The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce hosted a job fair at the Institute today (with a lot of help from numerous partners). SouthsideCentral was there covering it (and hey, looking for a new job too!) and I’ve got a Big Board of Random Thoughts about it.

EXCLUSIVE: The new Pittsylvania County administrator will be…

…somebody you may be familiar with. Because it’s a personnel matter that has to be voted on by the entire Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday afternoon (April 22), I’ve been unable to get on-the-record sourcing. That being said, SouthsideCentral has been working on this story over the past few days and I’m 100% [...]

Dumbass (Idea) of the Day! (3/24/14)

You don’t have to commit a stupid crime to be featured. Government officials can have dumbass ideas.

LIVE! at the “How to be a candidate” workshop

The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce helps the region again. We’re LIVE! at the Institute.

Economic Develop-Mentally Challenged

The day after Danville’s Economic Development Summit, Danville’s Economic Development director resigned. Oh, that’s a good sign.

After an unplanned SouthsideCentral hiatus, I’m not sure where to start…

Let’s (not) talk about sex (businesses)

The apathy of Pittsylvania County residents fails to surprise me yet again.

Thumbs! (11/12/2013)

It’s been almost a month since our Thumbs! got a workout. Let’s fix that problem now…

Endorsement: Danny Marshall for 14th District House of Delegates

SouthsideCentral wraps up our endorsements for the Virginia House of Delegates by endorsing Danny Marshall in the 14th District.

Endorsement: Les Adams for 16th District House of Delegates

Les Adams has done everything that’s needed to show us that he’ll make a good Delegate in Virginia’s General Assembly.

14th District House Race – Update #2

Let’s see what’s been going on in the 14th District House of Delegates race in this (probably final) update…

We couldn’t handle the truth?

Maybe that’s what law enforcement was thinking, because we’re now finding out a fatal wreck back in June stemmed from a police chase.

16th District House Race – Update #2

It’s time for our second look at the region’s 16th District House of Delegates race. Let’s see what has changed…

TYOB: “Southside Show-Biz 2013″

Nothing promotes our local business like the Chambers of Commerce do, and it’s time for the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce to put on their premier event of the year… the Southside Show-Biz trade show. It’s tomorrow (Friday) from 10AM to 3 PM and Averett University’s North Campus. It’s a “Thing You Oughta Be” doing [...]

He’s not a child molester…

… it’s just all because of a sleep disorder! What the hell?

16th District House Race – Update #1

We’re going to slide back into the election season as we take a look at a race that has no incumbent.

“You’re Retired!”

That rhymes with “You’re Fired!”, but it’s a nicer way to say it. The dysfunctional Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors seems to have struck again.

14th District House Race – Update #1

Let’s take a look at the upcoming 14th District House of Delegates race. We’re got Danville’s Danny Marshall, a long-time incumbent, facing Danville’s Vice-Mayor Gary Miller. There’s also comic relief in the race but we’ll get to that later…

Time Machine: (Race) Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy

Today, we’re going to do something to the local race pimping community that rarely happens. We’re going to look back at a “developing situation” that they showcased and see what was accomplished. It’s time to hop into the SouthsideCentral Time Machine.

If it smells like gang activity…

… it just might be. We’ll be watching this case closely as it develops. (We actually may be reading about it soon, since the Register & Bee reads SouthsideCentral)

Thumbs! (8/31/2013)

Excuse us while we whip out our “Thumbs!”…

Who’s #1? – Biggest Job Announcement Busts – Part #2

Continuing the saga from Part #1… We don’t stop until we hit the top! Let’s take a look at #5, #4 and #3 on the list!

Petty. Vindictive. Jerks.

And the answer is “Three words used to describe James Snead, Coy Harville and Tim Barber”. Along with Jerry Hagerman, those three idiots fired Pittsylvania County Economic Development Director Ken Bowman for absolutely no legitimate reason at all.

Fred Ingram did not say “Nigga”…

… because you know that word could have been OK. Not.

TYOB!: This weekend’s events!

If you stay at home this weekend, you’ve got nobody to blame but yourself.

Not so fast, Walter.

Some of the anti-uranium folks seem to think that I’m in favor of uranium mining. As I’ve said before, they’re quite wrong.
