Tonight’s meeting starts at 5:30 PM. I’ll get going as soon as I get there.
6:00 PM start! BoardDocs was wrong!
5:45 PM – Philip Campbell leads with 7 speaker sign-ups. 3 for Christine Baggerly, 2 for Jackson Weller, 1 for Michelle Cahill. Nobody for Becky Bolton, Cheryl Bryant or Elizabeth Leggett.
6 PM – Let’s play the feud! Not anywhere close to the full house I expected.
Chairman Terri Hall says they’ll go in alphabetical order of the candidate’s last name. Christine Baggerly is first and she’s got three speakers lined up.
Becky Bolton & Cheryl Bryant are both former school board members but aren’t here tonight, nor do they have any speakers for them.
Baggerly leads off with two heavy hitters, Helm Dobbins & Jessie Barksdale (sitting on an empty row because he’s so cool 😎).
Board members were given notepads to jot thoughts down. I reminded them that they were subject to FOIA. Heh.
Malvester Muhammed leads off for Philip Campbell, who isn’t here. Almost all of the other speaker signups for him choose not to speak.
A Galileo student is the only school-age person to speak tonight. She talked about Philip Campbell’s frequent visits to Galileo.
6:30 PM – Register & Bee reporter John Crane heads to the 7PM city council meeting. I’m going to stay here.
