Danville City Council – LIVE! (9/6/16)

(Editor’s Note: A new phone, a new version of WordPress on the phone, incompatible settings on the website, photos archived to somewhere that I can’t find and a Facebook Live attempt that looked like Amateur Hour. That’s the reason that this article is a complete mess. On Wednesday night, I’ll start rebuilding this article from scratch. Sorry, folks.)

SouthsideCentral is LIVE! at tonight’s Danville City Council meeting, so be sure to refresh this page often for the latest photos, happenings and commentary.

Note: Absolutely nothing is working on our new initiative. Phooey.

This time, we’re adding something new to the coverage. We’re going to try to do some Facebook Live videos on our SouthsideCentral Facebook page. Here’s the link to the page so that you can “Like” it and get regular updates. We’ve tested the Facebook Live feature a few times and it seems to be working so let’s see what happens tonight. It will either be great or a total disaster. We can live with both of those outcomes. Tonight’s meeting will start at 7PM, and then we’ll move to the work session across the hall. Let’s get started!

Don’t forget to check out our SouthsideCentral Facebook page to see what bonus content we’re able to produce…

We’re underway! The Facebook Live video crapped out because the phone isn’t giving me the option. Oh well.

The idea to add a Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors member to the Danville Utility Commission is tabled. There was a heated discussion between John Gilstrap & Fred Shanks before the meeting started. I’ll have to find out exactly what the hell is going on.

All of the zoning cases pass easily. Overall, the only interesting part of tonight’s meeting was the official Council photo session happened before the meeting and almost ran out of time because Fred Shanks was running late.
