Jim Lindley’s City Council Announcement

Jim Lindley has announced that he will run for Danville City Council in the upcoming May elections. SouthsideCentral is glad to publish his campaign’s statement unedited so that our readers can see it in its entirety.

Again, this is from Jim Lindley.

Local college administrator announces his bid for Danville City Council.

James “Jim” Lindley, Danville Community College Admissions Counselor, Student Activity and Athletic Director feels his experience and skills will benefit the citizens of Danville. Jim moved to Danville in 1970 at the age of 3, when his father relocated to Danville to build the growing city’s cable company. Jim attended Glenwood, and Sacred Heart, and graduated from GWHS in 1984. After proudly serving in the United States Navy, Jim returned to Danville in 1987 and began his educational and professional career. He received an Associates Degree from Danville Community College, a Bachelors in Human Services Counseling from Old Dominion University, and a Masters Degree in Community and College Counseling from Longwood University. He completed this while raising a family here in Danville. Jim has worked at DCC for over twelve years, and previously worked in Behavioral Health at DRMC.

Jim feels that his “hands on” experience with the citizens of Danville will be invaluable in his bid for Council. “In my early career at DCC, I had the pleasure of working with hundreds of displaced workers from Dan River, Corning, Disston, the Tobacco Industry and numerous other industries. To work with these great citizens as they struggled to survive and to start a new life was a learning experience for me. I understand the needs and wants of our citizens, of all ages, races and religions. My experience as a counselor and a mediator; give me the ability to listen to all sides of an issue and to work towards a common goal. I feel the key to the success of Danville’s future is to unite our citizens in the common goal of improving the quality of life for all.”

Jim believes that the key for Danville’s future is a strong education system and strong Public Safety. “I understand the importance of bringing jobs to Danville, but until we improve our current schools, and our citizens feel safe conducting their daily business, we will find it difficult to prosper.” Jim says that this has to be a united effort, between the City Council, the School Board, local law enforcement and our citizens. He believes that our citizens and our city need to unite to solve these issues. “Unless we unite our citizens in a common purpose, we will never reach our potential as the “Pride of the Southside.”
Jim encourages all citizens to vote on May 3rd.

Show your support for making Danville safe and prosperous again by voting for JIM LINDLEY on May 3rd.
