BREAKING: The Stinky Water Update (10/19/15)

There’s been some complaints coming in about the taste and smell of Danville’s drinking water. I’ve done the checking with the City of Danville and here’s what has been happening…

Here’s the Big Board timeline and rundown on the current “Stinky Water” event…

  • On Monday, October 12th, a Danville Water Treatment Plant operator detected a small taste problem with the finished water sample that he took from the processed water tank.
  • The City immediately upped the level of the activated carbon to neutralize that odor.
  • The first customer complaints started coming in on Wednesday, October 14th.
  • No taste or smell issue has been observed at the water treatment plant since Wednesday, October 14th.
  • What “Stinky Water” that may have gotten in the system will work its way through the distribution system.
  • Since this problem was caught early and in about the same time as the last event, the city is hopeful that the problem will be short-lived like the last time.
  • The city has also overflowed some of the water storage tanks in an effort to clear out any potential “Stinky Water”.

OK folks, that’s what I know as of now. I’ll keep you updated when I find out anything else. You can count on SouthsideCentral for that.
