TYOB!: “The Lion King Jr.” – This Weekend! – (Part #2)

It’s time for Part #2 of our look at a  Thing You Oughta Be doing this weekend and next…

The North Star Theatre Project is putting on an amazing production of Disney’s “The Lion King Jr.” over the next two weekends. Over 30 local kids (and many behind-the-scenes adults) have come together for this summer’s feature show. We’re already published Part #1, and we’ve got more of the behind-the-scenes work in Part #2 right here.

The showtimes are: Friday & Saturday, June 19-20 at 7:30 PM – Sunday, June 21 at 2 PM and Friday & Saturday, June 26-27 at 7:30 PM – Sunday, June 28 at 2 PM. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children & students. The show is at Danville’s Historic North Theatre. Tickets are available online and at the box office on the night of the show.

When we left you in Part #1, we were watching the creation of wildebeests. Let’s continue…

Now we’re talking wildebeest colors!

Hyena masks are being assembled.

The North Theatre is huge inside. Here’s the steps back up to stage level.

Work continues on the beautiful “The Circle Of Life” opening number.

We made our way to the balcony. That’s director Mimi Grubb at the edge of the stage getting the set pieces moved to where she wants them..

We’re at the top of the theater now. Lights & Music controls are in capable hands.

When Mimi Grubb’s arms get going, she’s faster than my camera. And no, she’s not chewing out Jerry Grubb, even if it looks that way. Heh.

And the ramp goes back into the wings!

We’ve got one article left and that will have more rehearsal photos and fun stuff from the night. That’s coming up later today on SouthsideCentral!
