UPDATED: BREAKING: Jackson to Step Down as GWHS Principal

(Editor’s Note: We’ve updated this article after a conversation with Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Juliet Jennings.)

At SouthsideCentral, we work hard at getting you breaking news before any other media source.

SouthsideCentral has confirmed that George Washington High School Principal Withers Jackson will step down from his job. Jackson told the faculty & staff of his decision on Friday. Credible sources have told us that Jackson is expected to remain in the Danville Public Schools system in a different job capacity.

We have asked Danville Public Schools administration for an official statement regarding this, and we will publish that statement as soon as we receive it.

UPDATE: We just spoke with Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Juliet Jennings and she confirms that Withers Jackson will move to an administrative position with Danville Public Schools. The position of GWHS principal will be posted as early as tomorrow.

Jackson was named as principal of GWHS prior to the beginning of this school year after serving as interim principal.

This is a developing story and we will update this article as more details come in.
