Danville City Council – LIVE! (4/7/15)

Editor’s note: This article is now complete. It’s not the best one I’ve ever done, but it was hard to do LIVE! coverage while being a speaker as well.

This is one Danville City Council meeting that you don’t want to miss. I’ll be speaking during tonight’s public comment section. My speech will publish here on SouthsideCentral at 7:00 PM in a separate article.

We’re underway. Sherman Saunders led the prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Duke Energy’s Davis Montgomery gives his monthly update. I made my speech around two other citizens who talk about the poor tasting water. My speech is now published in a separate article.

We move on to business, and the only thing tonight is the introduction of the proposed new budget. Once that’s published, we’ll do a BreakDown on it.

We conclude with the around the horn session, and all councilmen give their condolences to Alonzo Jones for the death of his sister. Gary Miller indirectly responds to my speech, saying that he’s learned that elected officials should not debate private citizens. Needless to say, I disagree. I offer Gary Miller (and any other council member) the opportunity to write their own column, and I will publish it unedited. It’s time for an open and fresh dialog between council members and citizens… and I’m glad to provide the place for it.
