Danville’s New School Superintendent’s Contract

It’s negotiated and signed, so let’s take a look at incoming superintendent Dr. Stanley Jones’ employment contract with Danville Public Schools.

And here you go…

4 years. $150K per year. $6K car allowance. We’ll do a BreakDown on this contract on Thursday.

Let’s hear your comments on this.

A four year contract sounds better than a two year. From what I’ve read, he sounds like he’ll be a good person for the job and schools.

Just for fun, let us look at the “Car Allowance”. $500 per month for travel within the district (Danville Public Schools) all within the city limits. From the school office to the 12 schools (not including pre-schools or WW Moore), the distance to the schools, from the superintendent’s office ranges from 0.3 miles to 9.3 miles. The federal reimbursement rate is 58.5 cents per mile when this contract goes into effect. $500 divided by 58.5 cents per mile is 854.7 miles per month. Does anyone believe the Superintendent will drive 10,256 miles per year inside the city of Danville on school business?
