Preview: Danville City Council & School Board (11/6/2014)

Due to the Tuesday elections, Danville City Council’s regularly scheduled meeting was moved until tonight at 7PM. The Danville School Board’s meeting is tonight at 6PM. Ugh. Let’s take a quick look at what’s going to happen…

I’m not sure how our LIVE! coverage will go tonight, so I’m going to make an article that covers both meetings and I may switch back and forth. We’ll have to figure that out on the fly. Let’s take a quick look at the agendas.

School Board:

  • Lots of recognitions including a Galileo teacher getting a national award.
  • The board will discuss adding discipline case sessions, and to possibly reformat their “work sessions”
  • Committee reports
  • Personnel and administrative recommendations
  • The “Restraint and Seclusion of Students” policy again.
  • Around the horn session then a closed session for discipline cases.

City Council:

  • Public comment session. This should be the last one about the Confederate Flag issue.
  • Consent agenda for grants.
  • Here’s the big one. The final vote on a resolution to tell the museum that the city can’t legally move the Confederate flag. I’m expecting a 9-0 vote, but we’ll see if something strange happens.
  • First readings and actions on grants.
  • Around the horn segment.
  • Work session. The interesting items here will be starting the process to put “In God We Trust” in council chambers and discussion of restrictions on the public comment segment.

That’s a quick rundown of what’s on tap. Stay tuned for our LIVE! coverage here on SouthsideCentral.
