Thumbs! (10/3/2014)

Do you want my Thumbs? Do you? Do you?

So you want my Thumbs? Give me a Big Board then…

  • Thumbs UP! to Danville Public Schools & DCC. The new precision machinery partnership they’re working on will be a good return to the vocational programs that faded away in the past. It’s good to see that schools are finally realizing that skilled trades are important and that every student doesn’t need to go to college.
  • Thumbs UP! to Julie Brown and all of the people that helped to put on the “Career Choice SOVA Youth Expo” on Wednesday & Thursday. Five thousand (!) 7th & 9th graders from as far away as Patrick County came to the expo. It was an awesome concept that took a lot of work from everyone, but they pulled it off perfectly.
  • As a former GW drama student, I’ve got to give Thumbs UP! to Dana Tickle and the George Washington High School Theatre Guild. They’re putting on “Leading Ladies” this weekend at the GWHS auditorium. Gold diggers, men masquerading as women, mistaken identities, and a rich old lady who just won’t die rollick through this comedy. Tickets are just $5 so come and see tomorrow’s stars!

UP! UP! and UP! Wow, whoda thunk that from a Friday Thumbs! column? More coming up on SouthsideCentral!
