RandomThoughts! (6/13/2014)

Friday morning! Weekend’s almost here! Lots of exclamation points! RandomThoughts!

Big Board!

  • 90% of the people I’ve talked to never went to the AAF Tank Museum. Did they even attempt to market to locals?
  • For the first time in 15 years, I’m not going to the Virginia Cantaloupe Festival.
  • The Town of Halifax is moving one police officer from part-time to full-time in the new budget year, and now they’re proposing raising their parking ticket fine from $10 to $25. I can figure that one out quickly.
  • Does anybody walk on the south part of Danville’s Riverwalk Trail? It’s got the little bridge and concrete part where you can walk out over the river, and it’s a beautiful place to just relax there.
  • I’ve got a good (and bad) feeling that South Boston’s Common Grounds coffee shop isn’t going to re-open.
  • If you want to know why your Facebook friends number goes up or down, go to http://who.deleted.me and register with them. There’s no privacy concerns at the site, they just take a snapshot of who’s on your friends list and compare the next day’s version to it. It’s sort of like fun people-watching.
  • Yes. Reidsville still has the Christmas Tree where the confederate monument used to be. Merry Christmas.
  • The 19th annual Charlie Poole Festival takes place in Eden tonight & tomorrow. It’s another amazing local music event with very reasonable ticket prices.
  • Finally, you know I’ve got to think about food. I’m looking forward to tonight’s Reidsville Cruise-In and not just to see the cars and my old friends. Yep, Cafe 99 for supper!

That’s your RandomThoughts for now. More coming up on SouthsideCentral!

Blair and I walked that section of the trail a few days ago. A very nice stretch. I imagine more people will use it once it connects with the MLK Bridge to the other side.
