After looking at that scoreboard, I wonder if the Halifax County IDA is having second thoughts…
Jeff Reed used to be project manager at the Halifax County Industrial Development Authority before being unceremoniously dumped. A good economic developer won’t be unemployed for long and he quickly found his new spot leading Virginia’s Growth Alliance, which covers territories directly east of Halifax County. Reed was also at the Danville Economic Development office for five years.
Today, Virginia’s Growth Alliance made an announcement of 110 new jobs. The Halifax County IDA is looking to hire an assistant director and a secretary.
I would mention Danville on that scoreboard but with all the Job Busts like GOK, Web Parts, US Green Energy and the White Mill, they’d be sitting at around -1100.
Jeff Reed is a good economic developer. Halifax County blew it when they got rid of him. The scoreboard in the headline says it all.
