Mark Warner wants my money…

…and he ain’t getting it. I hate fundraising emails.

I got this pile of horsecrap in my email today…

Friend,

The end of March is the most important deadline of the campaign to date and the entire country will be watching. Here’s why:

It’s the first FEC filing since my opponent entered the race. Shady special interests that can spend unlimited amounts of money without disclosing where any of it came from will be looking for any signs of weakness.  Please contribute today to help us meet this critical deadline. It’s up to us to prove that grassroots supporters can compete with special interest groups.

You and I both know this election is about more than just two candidates. It’s about two different visions for our country and democracy — whether we want the tea party’s divisive politics that shuts down the government, or a constructive approach where we work across the aisle to deliver results. This election is about whether we want more fiscally reckless stunts that damage our credit, or a proven approach to budgeting that made Virginia the Best Managed state while I was Governor. I firmly believe that by working together we can address the serious issues facing our country. What we need in Washington are more people who want to find common ground, rather than divisive partisan-driven attacks. Please contribute today, before the March 31st deadline, to help us reach our fundraising goal so we can score a big victory for our Commonwealth, and our country, in November.

Thank you for all your support,

Mark Warner

(Editor’s Note: Fundraising links removed and the email was condensed to save space)

Does Mark Warner believe that “the entire country will be watching”? Most of the people who are going to vote in 7.5 months don’t even know who Mark Warner’s opponent is. If somebody gives Mark Warner’s campaign $5 today, does he really think that will stop the inevitable onslaught of outside-group political ads that will make our eardrums bleed starting in September? Can he truly be against “divisive partisan-driven attacks” when he’s using divisive partisan-driven attacks? Do people really fall for this crap?

If Mark Warner wants my money today, he can forget it. Just like I said with John Cannon, Chris Lumsden & Ted Bennett in a previous article, write the damn check yourself.
