Help wanted: Middle school traffic director. Salary: $71,232

Our sources have spotted a high-ranking Halifax County Public School administrator hard at work. It’s too bad that he’s getting paid $71,232 to direct traffic.

Frosty Owens has been directing traffic in the Halifax County Middle School parking lot. Although we’re glad that HCPS administration have been spotted in public actually doing productive work, shouldn’t the job of directing traffic fall to someone who’s getting appropriately paid for that job?

That… or lets change Frosty Owens’ job title to Supervisor of Secondary Education and Parking Attendant? Perhaps Melanie Stanley will substitute for Owens on the days he has to make decisions? Maybe there needs to be a new “Frosty Owens Academy Of Parking Lot Patrolling” created?

Attention: Paul Stapleton. The last “create a new academy” idea was a joke. Please don’t get any ideas from that. The part about Melanie Stanley being the part-time parking patroller was serious, however. She needs to earn her ridiculously high paycheck.

It is crap like this that the McDonnell and Bolling want to nip in the bud. To much money going to administrative staff and School adminstration creating positions in the central offices on school divisions. They want more $$ to go to educating the children of Virginia and not fattening the pockets of someone with a big office doing nothing or sitting behind a desk.

Didn’t Mrs. Barczak used to do that when she was there? Why can’t the current principal do it?

I’ve heard from a reliable source that Ms. Stanley’s salary was deflated in the paper last year.

Isn’t it the responsibility of the adminitrative staff to jump in a help where they see a need. I think some would be complaining if we saw him just standing around.
