What happens when you arrive at the Danville School Board office at 4:02 PM?

You get told “The School Board Office is closed” rather directly. Fooey on that.

Thursday, 4:02PM – I’m delivering a SouthsideCentral business card to the School Board office to be put on their media list. I walk into the lobby and notice Superintendent Sue Davis talking to two other people with other people walking around and talking to. I pull a business card out of my bag and am greeted by “The School Board Office is closed” rather abruptly by the receptionist. Really? Your boss is 3 feet from me. Others are less than 2 feet away from you!

Sooooo.. I say that I’m just there to drop off SouthsideCentral’s contact information. I get a non-plussed look from the receptionist and nothing else. Excellent service there, eh? I pull out my phone and say “Well, I’ll just call who I just talked to and ask them to pick up the business card directly.” BOINGGGGGGG! The receptionist figures out that she actually needs to do something then cordially takes my card and promises to get it to the right person.

I came in not expecting much constituent service and got exactly what I expected. I can’t wait until SC’s first Danville School Board LIVE! meeting. Let’s see how that goes.
