A man who really says what he believes…

Yeah, he’s controversial. He says what he thinks. But he’s a man who really has what it takes to say what he believes and doesn’t hesitate to do it.

Johnny Robertson may be known as “that guy who’s on Star News who does the religious show”. He may be known by other less-friendly terms by people. He doesn’t mind that one bit.

The Martinsville & Danville Churches of Christ are having a tent meeting series in Danville through July 3rd in the parking lot of the Carquest Auto Parts (former Lowe’s and U-Play) building on Mt. Cross Rd. (ASIDE: This has gotten absolutely no news coverage in the Register & Bee… wonder why?) I went over to see what Johnny Robertson is all about.

Simply put, he’s a man who says what he does and does what he says. He’s one heck of a public speaker. The churches have put out a challenge to any of the other local churches for their pastors to come and debate on his stage. Nobody has shown up yet, and nobody probably will. Robertson has gone to local churches in the Danville area to attempt to get local pastors on camera and well… it’s been interesting to say the least. Rev. Ronnie Andrews of Riverview Baptist Church was shown to be very abusive and kicked them off of church property. They’ve never been able to come close to approaching “Chief Apostle” Larry Campbell Sr. of Bibleway Cathedral, but they were able to show his luxurious Bentley (?, not sure of the make but I heard him mention Bentley in passing.) That hasn’t stopped Robertson at all, as he’s actively challenging local pastors to debate him.

Robertson says that he invites people to come up and ask questions. He also said that he encourages people to video and take photos of his sermons. And he does just that. He even offers all of his complete sermons on DVD to anybody that wants to pick one up.

This is not a religious blog and I refuse to make any religious endorsements at all. That’s for another time and place and this isn’t it. I wrote this post to say that I was highly impressed with Johnny Robertson when I met him tonight. He’s a man who truly says what he believes and doesn’t hold back. In today’s world, he’s a breath of fresh air.

  • The problem with Mr. Robertson is that while the stuff he says is true, it’s not the whole story. His argument is that Methodists, Baptists, and other denominations are not Biblical because they are not in the Bible.

This is true, like I said, however computers, automobiles, neckties, microphones, and America are also not in the Bible, therefore these things are not Biblical and Mr. Robertson, unless he is a hypocrite, should immediately stop using these things and move to Israel.

Mr. Robertson is a trouble-maker who knows how to pull other peoples strings and get the reaction from them he wants. The best way to deal with him is to not give him what he wants; attention.

No, Mr. Robertson is a compulsive liar that misrepresents people. Just like satan in the garden of Eden, Genesis 3:4-5, he gives you a “half truth”. A half truth is still a lie. I have watched about 20 of his 600+ videos and all that I have watched have been half truths. And just for the record the “Church of Christ” is not in the Bible as well. You only find “Churches of Christ” in Romans 16:16 where Paul was talking about the churches collectively. If you wanted to be Biblical you could use “Church of God” as found in Acts 20:28, 1 Cor. 1:2, 10:32, 11:22, 15:9, 2 Cor. 1:1, Gal. 1:13 etc. However you would still be teaching heresy as we all know that NONE of those was a denominational title. The Church of Christ as started by Barton Stone and Alexander Campbell is just another denomination. Mr. Robertson calls himself an Evangelist. However the Bible says, Ephesians 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:…..So the JOB of an Evangelist is to perfect the saints, work in the ministry and EDIFY the BODY OF CHRIST. Not chase people around with your video camera and try to destroy them. He needs to get a life.
